Primordial Pools of Xenn 7

"Look, but don't touch; as serene as these misty pools seem, they are anything but. Said to date back to the planet's very beginning, these pools are the result of super-heated water forced up from the ground from sub-surface vents. The primitive, though hardy, Corposcene Corielis thrive in this extreme environment. It is interesting to note that these ancient pools are said to contain mass amounts of platinum, though the last attempt to retrieve these desposits was abandoned after the company lost a miner to a Corposcene's venomous sting. As a result of intense negotiations with the mining company, the Primordial Pools of Xenn 7 are now protected natural reserves."


The finished version of part 2 of my xennuvian series. I'm hoping to make 7 different terrains, one for each planet of a made-up solar system; I'm trying to keep the planets somewhat believable as natural, but alien, planets that could actually exist. There's another version ( [link] ) of this picture in my gallery that's labeled as a preview; some people may like that one a bit more because it's larger and a bit brighter (I'd suggest looking at that pic if you have an older monitor, I'm using an ultra-bright monitor and what looks good on my monitor may look too dark on another). This one is light with global illumination, a rendering technique that allows for indirect lighting by simulating light bouncing off surfaces and affecting others.
